The first hybrid CCME was held on 19th and 20th November, 2021, under the theme ‘learner empowerment to transcend boundaries of healthcare delivery’. The wide array of activities ranging from pre-conference webinars, regional workshops, main conference and a post-conference symposium focusing on emerging areas in medical education kept participants engaged over period of five months.
Commencing in June, the series of pre-conference webinars on diverse topics including simulation, problem-base learning, professional identity, well-being, quality assurance and communities of practice, were led by many national and international eminent figures in the sphere of medical education. A range of regional workshops were specifically designed to cater to the needs of multiple medical schools in the country.
The keynote addresses were delivered by Prof. Cees Vander Vleuten, Masstricht University, Netherlends and Dr. Dujeepa Samarasekara, National University of Singapore. The event was graced by many scholars including Prof. Lambert W T Schuwirth, Prof. Maria Mylopolous, Prof. Chinthaka Balasooriya, Dr. Margerat Re and Dr. Graham Mcmohan. An overwhelming participation of more than 600 virtual attendees from across the globe was noted. The CCME 2021 successfully concluded with a post-conference symposium on interprofessional education.
